Role

Reporting into the Head of Data Engineering and Strategy, you will be an integral part in crafting bespoke solutions to solve business problems and to improve existing business processes within the organisation.

This hands-on role provides a fantastic opportunity to shape the growth of a data capability within a rapidly growing business. The scope of the role is broad, involving significant cross-departmental interaction, and an end-to-end coverage of projects from design through to implementation and deployment. The aim is toward continual improvement of data flows within the organisation.

Key accountabilities:

  • Database design, implementation/change, tuning and support

  • Database integration with external data feeds, platforms, workflow and reporting tools

  • Data integrity and consistency

  • Management of data processes and delivery timelines

  • Delivery of data to end-users

    Qualifications and experience:

  • Has 2-5 years hands-on development experience, ideally within the finance industry

  • Bachelor's or post-graduate degree in Computer Engineering or equivalent technical discipline

Technical Competencies:
Proven track record in a similar role. Essential skills and experience include:

  • Experience with the AWS platform

  • Experience with the data lifecycle

  • Development of APIs in a microservice architecture

  • RDBMS performance analysis and tuning

  • Excellent Python skills

  • Web front-end experience

  • Integration with external platforms, data feeds, ETL

  • Unix and Windows operating systems

Highly desirable skills and experience:

  • Experience with DevOps including version control

  • Experience with FactSet Vermilion reporting suite

  • Test driven development

  • Continuous integration and deployment

  • Non-relational databases and text processing

  • Financial industry experience in funds management

  • Containerised system architecture - Docker

  • VBA and Excel add-in development
